WTUL's DJ of the Month highlights a DJ (or co-DJs) each month, giving listeners insight on their favorite albums, most memorable experiences at WTUL, and more!
This December, we sat down with DJ Cockratease to learn about his favorite finds in the WTUL stacks, who he'd want to interview at the station, and his favorite station moments. Lastly, he put together a specially-curated Spotify playlist for listeners! Make sure to read more below!
How long have you been a DJ at WTUL?
10 years.
What is your favorite song or album that you've discovered in the stacks?
This is a hard question. I play music exclusively from the stacks so my taste has been somewhat formed by what WTUL has had to offer over the years. One near and dear to my heart is the song "Voodoo" by a local group, Social Set. The song makes me smile every time.
Which local artist has been one of your favorites to play on-air?
People Museum always makes me twirl!
Which artist would you want to interview on WTUL and why?
The Shins hahaha. My fave. A boy can dream!
What is your most memorable moment at the station?
I had the privilege of interviewing Dar Williams, who was celebrating the 20th anniversary of her debut album. We had a lot of fun
and her manager emailed us that she said it was one of her favorite interviews ever. I was giddy.
